Each person does Judaism in their own way and like Torah, Jewish living is a tree of life, constantly evolving. Throughout Make and Take Judaism, we will expand our Jewish practice by tapping into our creative self through the creation of ritual items, personal liturgy, and building our Jewish identity through our connection to Israel.

We will join with Alden Solovy, Paul Liptz, and world renown Jewish artists.

Upcoming Events:

February 25, 2024 – (zoom) – Alden Solovy – How we view liturgy and create our own for our lives.  (Registration link below)

March 10, 2024 – (in-person only) – Hiddur Mitzvah, Making Judaism Beautiful with Gary Rosenthal Workshop. (Registration link below)

And more to come….

Creating Blessings with Alden Solovy
Sunday, February 25, 2024
9:00 am PT – on Zoom
Cost: $20

My Mah Tovu – A Spiritual Compass
Mah Tovu, the five verses that introduce our morning prayers, is designed as a spiritual compass. What are the compass points? How does it help us direct our prayers and perhaps our lives? Liturgist Alden Solovy will help us explore the mysteries of the Mah Tovu, which we will then use as the basis of writing our own thoughts and interpretations of the prayer, guided by prompts. We will deepen our understanding of this simple prayer, using it to create our own reflections.

We are encouraged to make celebrating Judaism beautiful. This is called, hiddur mitzvah. As part of our Make and Take Judaism program, we will create personalized Gary Rosenthal Judaica items. You can choose from chanukiyot, Shabbat candlesticks, a seder plate, mezzuzot, and more. And you will choose your colors of glass!

We will come together to learn more about these special items and create the glass design that will then be shipped back to the Gary Rosenthal workshop to be fused, installed, and returned to us as a unique piece of Judaica art.

Bring a friend!  Share the information!  All are welcome!

Creating Personalized Judaica with Silk Painting
Expressing your creativity and crafting unique Judaica has never been easier than with silk painting. The skilled artists at Mayu Silk Art in Huntington Beach will help you bring your vision to life by guiding you through color selection and design creation, before printing it on either a challah cover or talit. This is an enjoyable project suitable for all ages, and no previous artistic experience is necessary!

Challah covers are $50/each

Talitot are $75/each

We will be bringing this back again later in the Spring. Watch for the new dates!
